Katie's friends tell Rachel about the legend of the cursed videotape , and also that Becca Katie's close friend was confined after Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend and her two friends also died in strange accidents the same night at 10 at night. Rachel is taken to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she stays in Cabin 12. The cabin in question is one Katie and her companions saw the tape that was cursed. Rachel finds the tape and after it is finished when the phone starts to ring. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is called Noah Clay as a video analyst by her ex-boyfriend. Rachel discovers later that Aidan Noah's son observed the tape and believed that Noah was calling her. He tells Rachel that Noah believes Rachel. Rachel is able to discover the whereabouts of the lighthouse. It was on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan who was cursed as a horse breeder was on the tape. Rachel finds out that Anna was the mother of an adoptive daughter, Samara. She was adept at creating horrifying images within the minds of animals, humans and even objects. Rachel is introduced to Anna's widower Richard and he asks her go when she begins to ask questions about Samara.
